Best TV series ever — the polls. [Dec. 4th, 2007|04:24 pm]
Kake
[Tags|, ]

Here are the polls for this, a few days late (sorry).

You can vote in both polls. In the first, you get to pick one. In the second, please pick no more than three. I can't make you not pick more than three, but please don't. You're voting on "the best TV series ever!" — whatever that means to you.

Note: the second poll isn't some kind of "best runners up". It's the same question as the first — what's the best TV series ever?

If you think "best series ever" is meaningless in the context of being allowed to vote for more than one thing, then ignore the second poll. If you think it's impossible to choose just one, then ignore the first poll. (I have provided a tickybox for anyone who has a complaint about the methodology of this poll. Please confine any such complaints to this tickybox.)

I am no statistician therefore cannot complain about the methodology. Getting it down to 3 is difficult though!

of course the next question would be to ask how recently people have watched their choices.

and how often they watch them

I liked Father Ted enough to buy the boxset, but Hollyoaks is the one I rush home to catch.

[x] My grandfather was oppressed by a statistical methodology ticky box, you insensitive clod.

Tough choices. Yes Minister and The Crystal Maze were tough to leave out. And if I'd thought about this earlier, I might have mentioned Deep Space Nine.

I altered the text to make it clearer — the second poll has the same question as the first, but is there for people who can't choose just one.

So many of the longer series had brilliant episodes or even seasons, but as a series as a whole, I couldn't vote for any of them.

Series (one season) that you didn't mention, that I would have voted for: Freaks and Geeks (American, high school, set in 1980's: D&D, George Bush senior, Mathletes, etc.)

Me too. Also Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, A Very Peculiar Practice (late '80s satire, doctors on modern uni campus, Peter Davison), The Beiderbecke Affair/Tapes/Connection (James Bolam, Barbara Flynn).

that woz 'ard...well, actually, picking Buffy in the first set wozn't (i could 'ardly do otherwise as i'm watching them AGAIN for the christ knows 'ow manyth time)!

i (like others) assumed the second set woz a kind of best runners up, 'n' although i went for Doctor who and Monty Python reasonably easily...the third choice (The Prisoner) woz difficult.

a shout out to my brother tucker, Deadwood and The Phil Silvers Show/Sgt Bilko 'oo just missed out...

No, the second poll has the same question as the first — what's the best TV series ever? You can change your votes if you like.

Methodology complaint: The list is being dumb with alphabetical sorting and "The".

That's probably LJ's fault not yours though.

wow, i forgot to mention a lot of them in the original post :)

but with 3 choices it's really easy: monty python's flying circus, twin peaks and yes, [prime ]minister. not necessarily in that order.

however, if i were to pick one to take with me to the proverbial desert island, it would be mp's flying circus (not because it's the best of the three, but because it's the one i think has the most replay value).
