Anyone still got a video player? [Apr. 16th, 2009|04:44 pm]
Kake
I realise the answer to this is probably "no", but does anyone want some VHS videotapes? Free to a good home, but you need to come to our house and collect them.

I am *almost* tempted by a couple of those, but it's a bit far to come until my leg's fixed, and it's probably a bad idea anyway. We still have a VCR and some old tapes of our own, but it's a long time since we've used either.

I think they're going to have to go in the bin if nobody wants them, which would be a shame. They're not actively in the way, though, so I'll hang on to them for a bit and keep trying. I'll ask in the charity shops too, but I suspect they won't want them.

We took a bag of videos to one of the charity shops on Southwark Park Rd just before Christmas, and they were happy to take them.

Invite me to Dreamwidth so I can have an exit plan when the Russians crack down.

Also, is uon your evil anagrammatic twin?

Nope, he's my boyfriend. He cannot be my evil twin because that would be twincest.

That's not why we have similar LiveJournal usernames, though; the actual reason is that there was an OxIRC channel that you were only allowed to be on if your nick consisted of the letters "n", "o", and "u". (I'm not sure if this is really a less annoying reason; perhaps I should stop telling this story.)

I preferred this story when it was going in the direction of twincest.

I haven't heard this story, and I've long wondered about your usernames: why did this channel exist, and why did you join? What other members were there?

No particular reason, just because we could. It's really not that interesting.

There was another channel whose users had names consisting solely of underscores.

Aaah, I'll take Ghostbusters if you can't find a home for it! I watch videos more than DVDs these days; since I can't seem to find the remote control for my DVD player any more, whereas my video is old school enough to have self-explanatory buttons on the front!

Hurrah! I will keep it aside for you and bring it on a Tube Walk (oh, or you can collect if you want it sooner).

I also have problems with remote controls, but more because I can never seem to remember what all the little symbols mean.

Hooray, thankyou!

Thursday 6th August looks almost certain to be my date for the beer festival this year by the way. Consequently, I don't ancicpate getting huge amounts of work done on Friday 7th August...

Am tempted by the A-Team Classic, although will doubtless take them down the charity after watching them :) If this meets with yr approval, maybe uon to drop them over ours sometime he's over for allotmenting or whatever?

It is yours. Sure you can't be tempted by anything else?

no, my aim really is to get *rid* of the VHS stuff (bulky!) rather than acquiring more. Which is why my house will be more of a stop en route to the charity shop rather than a final resting place for them :)
