Ingredients game. [May. 18th, 2005|02:14 pm]

Hello. Let's play a game. All you need to do is:

  • Either reply to this post with an ingredient,
  • or reply to someone else's comment, quoting the list of ingredients already in that comment and adding one more,
  • or reply to someone else's comment with an idea for a recipe using the ingredients in the comment you're replying to. You can assume that in addition to those ingredients you also have things like flour, oil, water, salt and pepper, standard dried herbs, vinegar, etc. No hard rules on this one, just be reasonable.

I can't stop you from adding ridiculous ingredients, but you probably won't get any followups if you do. You can play as many times and in as many branches as you like.

Now this I'd just do as a side dish. Julienne the carrots (cut into sticks), lightly fry with butter and the chopped garlic and perhaps some thyme. Put into an ovenproof dish and stick in oven while main dish is cooking (gas 5ish, half an hour or so maybe?).

That or cheat and microwave.

I do something similar, but stick the carrots in a tin foil bag with a splash of white wine, a stick of butter, some crushed garlic (or chopped if i don't want people to kill each other with garlicy breath) and lots of black pepper. I don't drink much white, so i sometimes substitute it for a splash of vermouth and a glug of water.
